Newsletter March 2015

22/6/2015

Dear Member,

A warm welcome from me, your new Club President, and I hope you are all looking forward to the start of the new playing season. Now that the clocks have changed, the Tuesday and Thursday evening Senior sessions will resume next week starting at 6pm – all we need now is some Spring sunshine and it being a few degrees warmer!

When you do visit the courts next you will hopefully notice the refurbishment of the fence posts and gates, a necessary project to contain corrosion and generally maintain the overall appearance of the courts. Thanks go to Fife Community Grants who provided funding of £869 towards the overall cost of some £3000. The funding for these improvement projects relies heavily on membership subscriptions. These are kept at highly competitive rates, including an early bird discount if you pay before 1st May 2015, so please make payment as soon as possible.

I’m pleased to say that the new courts look to be holding up well, so this year we will be turning our attention to improving the clubhouse facilities. A “wish list” of possible improvements will be considered at the next Committee Meeting on 13th May, so if you have any ideas that you would like to be considered please let me or another member of the Committee know so that we can represent your views at the meeting.

We will be holding an Annual Maintenance Day on Saturday 25th April to undertake a general Spring clean and painting of the clubhouse, as well as some fence repairs, weeding and general all-round tidy up. Volunteers are needed to lend a hand, so if you can please turn up at 1pm, suitably attired to get stuck in.

Members should note that the Junior coaching programme resumes at the courts on Sunday 26th April for 10 weeks and that both courts will therefore be out of use from 1.00pm to 6.00pm on those Sunday afternoons.

For those with a competitive streak, keep an eye on the noticeboard in the clubhouse for all the latest regarding the programme of competitions, inter-club friendlies and LTA league matches. Most importantly, note that the closing date for entry to the Open Singles is 30th April, so please ensure you get your name on the entry sheet in the clubhouse before the deadline if you would like to participate.

And finally, congratulations to Ian McKenzie and Andy Menzies who were successful in the Wimbledon Ballot ticket draw.

I look forward to seeing you on court!

John Brennan - Club President
